FIRST TWO CHAPTERS (SECOND EDITION). In case these are useful. See below for the software and installation instructions if you do not have the textbook CD.
CHAPTER POWERPOINTS (4.1MB). This zip file contains the Powerpoints for all chapters.
FLASH TUTORIAL. As you work through the textbook you may find this online interactive tutorial useful. You can choose a topic and step through small code samples to see the effect of each statement on variables and output.
PREVIOUS (GREEN COVER) EDITION. Use this link to access the software and course materials for the previous (first) edition. The first edition has a green cover
Windows Installation
IMPORTANT!! These instructions replace the instructions provided on the text book CD. The instructions on the CD work if you are installing to the root of a USB drive but are incomplete if you are installing on a fixed drive, or in a folder on a USB drive. Please distribute the instructions provided here to ensure that students install their Web server successfully. InstallingYourWebServerOnWindows.doc (WORD).
WEB SERVER (50MB). Self-extracting installation of your standalone Web server including all course files and folders (the same software is provided on your textbook CD) - you do not have to download this file if you have already installed your server.
NOTE: You can also use the installation instructions provided here if you are using the first edition (green cover) of the textbook but want to use this current version of the Web server.
Installation Problems Right-click the link to download a Word document listing common installation questions and fixes for installation problems associated with the First Edition. This document will be updated as problems are reported for the Second Edition.
Macintosh Installation
Choose the Current Version of the Installation Instructions for Mac OS X.
Webtech folders (308KB). This zip file contains the textbook samples and coursework files. The Webtech folder must be unzipped and copied to the htdocs folder of your Mac OS X Web server installation (see Installation instructions).
Linux Installation
Linux users must download and install the Web server from the Apache Friends Web site: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html. Given the difference in Linux installs, no additional support is provided here for Linux users.
